Our Code of Conduct

Sunsetcrew only works when everyone feels safe and welcome. This is what we stand for, what we expect, and what happens when someone crosses the line.

🌅 The short version: be kind, ask before you message, respect a no, and help others feel safe.
Why this exists

I started Sunsetcrew so people could walk into a room of strangers and walk out with friends. That only happens when everyone in that room feels safe and I take that personally.

Most people here are wonderful and show up for exactly the right reasons. But a community is only as safe as what it's willing to stand up to. So if someone is here to make others uncomfortable, to message people who didn't ask to be messaged, or to treat this space as anything other than what it is a place to make real friends then this isn't the community for them, and I'll act on it.

This page isn't fine print. It's a promise to you about how we treat each other here.

— Kai, Founder of Sunsetcrew

What we expect of everyone

Here's who we're all here to be.

These aren't rules to tiptoe around they're the culture. When you join Sunsetcrew, this is what you're signing up to be part of, and what you can expect from everyone around you.

Be kind and respectful. Treat every member the way you'd want a nervous first-timer to be treated.

Ask before you message. Get consent before DMing someone privately. No exceptions.

Respect a no. If someone asks you to stop stop. First time, every time.

Look after your drinking. Enjoy yourself, but stay in control of yourself and your choices.

Make others feel safe. Your presence should add to someone's comfort, never take from it.

Look out for each other. If you see something off, you don't have to fix it alone tell us here.

What isn't welcome here.

Clear lines protect everyone. These apply at every event, in every chat, and in any private message that started because you met through Sunsetcrew.

At our events

Unwanted or non-consensual touching of any member, in any form.

Harassment of any kind verbal, physical, or persistent unwanted attention.

Pressuring anyone to drink when they don't want to, or losing control of your own drinking.

Illicit drugs they have no place at our events.

Discriminatory language or treating anyone as less than welcome.

In our chats & private messages

Messaging someone privately without their consent. Ask first, in the group or in person.

Ignoring a request to stop. If someone asks you to stop contacting or talking about them, that's the end of it.

Harassment or threats toward anyone, ever.

Treating the community as a dating pool or somewhere to pursue people who aren't interested.

One important note on where this applies

If a connection formed through Sunsetcrew, our code follows it. Moving a conversation from our chats to Instagram, text, or anywhere else doesn't put it outside these standards. Harassment is harassment, wherever it happens.

And yes people do meet partners here.

That's a lovely part of what happens when good people spend time together, and we're all for it when it's mutual and it happens naturally. What's never okay is treating Sunsetcrew as a place to hunt for dates or pursue someone who hasn't shown they're interested. The difference is simple: connection is something you build together, not something you push onto someone.

What happens when the line is crossed

How we handle it.

We believe most slip-ups deserve a conversation, not a punishment people can learn and do better. But serious harm is different, and we act on it straight away. Here's exactly how it works.

1

A personal message

For most minor issues, we'll reach out privately and quietly a genuine conversation about what happened and what needs to change. No public callout.

2

A formal warning

If it continues, you'll get a clear, formal warning no ambiguity about what the behaviour is and what happens if it doesn't stop.

3

Removal from the community

If the behaviour keeps happening after a warning, your membership is cancelled and you're removed from the community and the chats.

⚠️ Some things skip straight to removal

Harassment, unwanted contact after a clear no, anything predatory, or anything that makes someone feel unsafe these don't get a ladder. They result in immediate removal and cancellation of membership, with no refund, because the code of conduct has been broken. Whether someone can ever rejoin is decided case by case, and never automatically.

Seen or felt something? Tell us.

You never have to be certain, and no concern is too small. If something didn't sit right for you or someone else we want to know. You can send it with your name or completely anonymously.

Every report is reviewed immediately by Kai together with the Sunsetcrew team, and we take action wherever we can. It stays confidential within our team and is never discussed with the wider community.
